This class is for those that would prefer to have their class completely taught one on one by our professional instructors. The schedule is totally flexible to fit yours.

Just come in, call us or register on line for the class and we will give/send you your Open Water Manual and DVD. Read the book, watch the video and then complete the knowledge reviews at the end of each chapter.  Once you have completed the homework assignments you are ready to take the class.

SCHEDULE:
You can start this class any day of the week that you want. This day begins at South Beach Divers at 8am with the pool session. We use the Flamingo Resorts' Swimming Pool just a few minutes from the shop or if you live locally and have a pool that is at least 7 feet deep, we can do the pool session in your pool. All of the basics of scuba are learnt and mastered in the pool before you progress to the ocean. The pool session finishes around 2pm and then we break for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is spent reviewing your knowledge reviews and then we give you four simple quizzes and then the final exam (don't worry, it's multiple choice and if you get 100% we will give you a free t-shirt).  If you do the e-learning portion at home then you would skip this part and your first day would be done by 2pm. Please bring a bathing suit, a warm change of clothes.

The next two days are spent diving in the ocean. Below is a sample schedule but we can often move the dive days to fit your schedule.
On Saturday you meet at South Beach Divers at 10:00 a.m. to depart for John Pennekamp Marine Sanctuary in Key Largo for the first two open water dives.  This location has the largest coral reef in North America and it is full of fish, turtles, corals and hundreds of species of marine life. It is definitely the highlight of the class. We are the only Miami Dive Center that includes two dives in Key Largo as part of the certification course.  Return time is 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday you meet at South Beach Divers at 7.30am to complete your final two open water dives off the coast of Miami Beach (yes, you do get to dive on one of over 60 shipwrecks).  Upon returning (and passing) you will be issued a temporary certification card so you can start diving right away.  We process your PADI certification card online so you will get your permanent license in as little as 7 days and it can be sent anywhere in the world.  You will also then be qualified to take the PADI Advanced class as well numerous specialty classes like Wreck Diver and Underwater Photographer.  All students that graduate will receive a $50 credit towards the next class if purchased within 30 days of completing with Open Water Class.

The quickest and easiest way to get Scuba Certified

As soon as you need. We have the ability to start with as little as one day notice but take into consideration that the book needs to be read (280 pages, 6-8 hours) and DVD watched (2 1/2 hrs) prior to starting.

• Reservations are required.
• Classes are paid in full when enrolling.
• Must complete a student record file and student contract.
• Minimum age is 10 for certification, however, only a Junior Open Water License will be issued to those under 15.
• Those under 18 need a parent or guardians approval and signature.
• Must complete a medical form
• You must be able to swim 200 yards using any stroke or combination of stokes you choose and be able to tread water for 10 minutes.

The price of the course is $795.00 and includes the text book, dive tables, DVD, private academic and pool work (can be done in your home if local and have a deep enough pool), 4 boat dives with your private instructor, photo, certification card, transportation to and from the dive sites and all SCUBA rental gear (tanks, weights, BCD, regulatort) with the exception of personal gear.   Personal gear is considered to be your mask, snorkel, fins and wetsui*t. These are available for sale at the shop. Private students receive a 10% discount on any items purchased here in the store. Your instructor will be available to personally fit you for any of these items.
* Wetsuits are available for rent.
